Co-owners Charlie and Jeff Elrahi grew up in a big Lebanese family, and Zaatar is run the same way: as a family business centred on sharing food. The café’s namesake spice mix, thyme, sesame seeds, oregano, sumac and other spices, is their own blend, from a recipe handed down through the family.
The menu gives Middle Eastern food a modern spin, with share plates and flatbreads made onsite and cooked to order in front of you. Zaatar also sells its goods wholesale and raises money for the Good Friday Appeal each year.
