Muslims in Warrnambool and the surrounding south-west towns gather at the society’s musalla on Dickson Street for prayers, Ramadan programs and visiting speakers. The society is a registered charity with the ACNC and is led by president Dr Rashid Mahmood.
Plans are under way to renovate a building into a permanent facility for prayer, education and community activities; the planning permit is currently before VCAT. Members also take part in local civic life, including laying a wreath at the town’s ANZAC Day service.
