Ummah Jameelah started in 2005 as Islamic playgroups set up by Nicole Edwards and friends to fill a gap in faith-based early education. Nicole, a revert who holds a Bachelor of Education, still leads it as founder and director, and it has remained a not-for-profit.
Today it runs playgroups, where parents join in, and a preschool program where children attend on their own. Each week has its own theme, and dua, Qur’anic stories and character-building moments are built into hands-on play, storytelling and creative activities.
