The name Tawooq comes from the dish it set out to perfect: marinated chicken tawooq, served alongside hand-stacked beef shawarma. Meats are marinated for 24 hours and cooked the traditional way for a smoky finish, then wrapped with garlic toum, pickles and fresh herbs in the style of Beirut’s street stalls.
Other wraps include falafel with tahini, beef kafta with hummus and sumac, and a batata wrap of fries and honey slaw. Tabbouleh and fattoush are chopped by hand, and fresh juices and smoothies are made to order. The shop at 329 Brunswick Street has a sister location in Brunswick East.
