Husband and wife Atallah Abo and Helda Almorani opened their first small Shamiat restaurant in 2019 and have since added three more shops. Helda runs the kitchen and has been cooking Syrian food for more than 20 years.
The Northcote shop works as a café during the day and a restaurant in the evening, with breakfast, lunch, dinner and a range of sweets. Expect kibbeh, mashawi, falafel plates and hummus, with plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Walk-ins and bookings are both welcome.
