Laksa and roti are what Roti Road is built around, both made fresh to order. The cooking is halal Malaysian with Chinese flavours mixed in.
Alongside the curry laksa, the menu runs to a herbal clay-pot soup of free-range chicken, tofu puff and vegetables, and a prawn noodle soup in a shrimp-infused stock with fish cake, sliced chicken, kangkung, boiled egg and yellow noodles. The Footscray restaurant on Barkly Street opens for lunch and dinner, and there’s a second Roti Road at Highpoint.
