The Makool family emigrated from Lebanon in the 1970s and opened Oasis in 1998. Three generations on, the business has grown from a small food store into a large gourmet grocer with stores in Fairfield and Murrumbeena.
The Fairfield store on Station Street combines a busy café, a grocery stocked with food from around the world, a deli counter and a fresh food market. Oasis also runs a cooking school, has spaces for events, and offers catering.
