Nicosia takes its name and much of its menu from the capital of Cyprus. Shish kebabs of lamb, beef or chicken are skewered with vegetables and cooked over an open charcoal grill, and the doner is carved from a vertical spit and served with salad and rice.
Vegetarian dishes get as much attention: green beans in herbs and spice, eggplant and chickpea purées, yoghurt and cucumber dips and stuffed vine leaves, all with warm bread. Banquets bring several dips, tabouli, dolma, fried eggplant kadin budu and mains such as chicken doner and Nicosia kofte to share. Find it at 250 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
