Two cuisines share the menu at Khartoum City Cafe in Footscray: Egyptian and Sudanese. From Egypt come koshari and molokhia; from Sudan, ful medames and kisra. Dishes are made with traditional ingredients and cooking methods, and staff are glad to explain what’s behind each one.
The cafe is at 43 Paisley Street in central Footscray. It hires locally, buys from local producers where it can, and takes online orders as well as dine-in guests.
