Kabul Kitchen VIC

dandenongmarket.com.au

Kabul Kitchen started as a hole-in-the-wall stall at Dandenong Market, selling Afghan bread hot from cylindrical tandoor ovens. It has since grown into an adjoining restaurant on Cleeland Street, serving chicken biryani, qabuli palaw, dhal, and chicken, lamb, kofta and tikka kebabs.

Ali Haidari and Mohammad Sarwari opened it in 2017. Both came to Australia as refugees from Afghanistan, and later discovered they had arrived on the same boat. Find the stall in the market’s Meat, Fish and Deli Hall.
