Over 85 member societies, spanning more than 100 ethnic communities, belong to the Islamic Council of Victoria. From its Jeffcott Street office in West Melbourne, the council speaks for Victorian Muslims with government, media and other faiths, and promotes interfaith understanding and civil rights.
Its free, confidential Service Finder points people to Muslim and mainstream help for crisis support, food and bill relief, riba-free loans, counselling with a Muslim chaplain and culturally aware doctors. Since 2017 the council has run the annual Victorian Mosque Open Day, when mosques across the state welcome visitors.
