GaramMerica Original Warteg Nasi Bungkus

Nasi bungkus, rice wrapped up with a choice of dishes, is the speciality at GaramMerica. The cooking follows the warteg tradition from Tegal in Central Java: small, home-style Indonesian food with a long spread of sides to choose from, including beef rendang, squid, kikil, fried chicken and tempeh, all with a fiery house sambal.

The space is small and most people take their food away. Find it on the ground floor of Seasons Botanic Gardens at 348 St Kilda Road, near the Royal Botanic Gardens.
