Founded in 1991 in a former church, Emir Sultan Mosque was rebuilt from 2012 to keep up with Dandenong’s growing Muslim population. The project added a new mosque, a youth centre, funeral facilities and a wudu area.

Men and women have separate prayer halls. Qur’an classes run for children, teenagers and adults, and youth programs and social events fill the calendar. The mosque solemnises Islamic marriages with a certificate for the couple, and its funeral service includes a dedicated room for ghusl.
