Martabak Pecenongan 78 & D’Bakmie began in Indonesia in 1960 and grew to hundreds of outlets there before opening its first overseas shop at 114 Lygon Street, Carlton, in 2023.
Martabak is the star: thick sweet pancakes with toppings such as chocolate, nuts, cheese or condensed milk, alongside crispy thin martabak and savoury egg martabak with chicken, beef or vegetables. Indonesian street-style noodles are the other half of the menu.
Co-owners Santoso and Andy Indra both come from Sumatra.
