Founded in 1984 by a handful of imams, the Board of Imams Victoria was the first board of its kind in Australia. It aims to bring unity among imams and Islamic scholars, share authentic Islamic teaching, and provide religious and pastoral care to the community.
From its multifunction centre in Thomastown it offers mental health counselling, family and marriage counselling, and youth training programs, along with workshops on family violence, men’s behaviour and positive parenting.
The primary activity of the BOIV is to promote Islam as a complete and comprehensive way of life based on Holy Quran and Sunnah (the authentic traditions) of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and bring unity and solidarity among Muslims in Victoria.
