Kebabs at 256-258 Thomas Street are cooked over a bed of charcoal, the coals kept going with a small woven fan. The marinated meat comes with a long sheet of warm Afghan flatbread, wrapped in paper and folded to carry.
The business runs across two shopfronts in the Afghan Bazaar: one for cooking and takeaway, the other a dining room with simple tables where local families sit down to eat. Charcoal chicken is another favourite.
